Colin was born in 1957 in Marlborough, Wiltshire. His father was an amateur artist and Colin soon picked up the love of art for himself. A desire to make this his career emerged whilst at school in Falmouth, Cornwall. He began his artistic career as a technical illustrator in Cornwall in 1977. After completing his training at College he developed as an airbrush artist in photo-realism. For 20 years he worked freelance for advertising agencies and design companies in St. Ives, Cornwall; Toronto, Canada; and Bath. His attention to detail and realism brought commissions from clients such as British Aerospace, Barclays Bank, Silentnight Beds, Waitrose and Tescos. In 1997 he took a break from the world of commercial art, and trained as a Christian lay minister. His spiritual search has led him back to a deep desire to paint again. Colin has hung up the airbrush, and now paints in oils on canvas. I paint those things I see that inspire, move and draw me, says Colin. This happens mostly through the incredible beauty of the world around us. My hope is that I capture something of the wonder and awe of that beauty. My prayer is that the creator of such beauty can also be seen...who is beyond our words, yet is at the heart of every person. |
